From an early age, it was clear our son was bright, curious, and full of energy—but keeping his focus on certain tasks was a challenge. Even before preschool, we began to notice signs of ADHD, which runs in our family. As parents, we wanted to give him every opportunity to thrive, so we started researching different educational styles. That journey led us to the Montessori method, and it was a revelation. Montessori’s focus on hands-on learning, independence, and self-paced progress was exactly what he needed. It created an environment where he could flourish—balancing the freedom to explore his interests with the structure needed to stay grounded. For our son, it wasn’t just education; it was empowerment. Montessori helped him build focus, confidence, and a genuine love for learning.
We were fortunate to secure a spot in an incredible Montessori school that not only recognized our son’s unique potential but also tailored his education to suit his individual needs. The environment was transformative—not just for him, but for our whole family. Along the way, I connected with other parents who shared similar values, but one friendship stood out. Like me, he was a stay-at-home dad, equally obsessed with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and also raising a child with ADHD. The parallels in our lives were uncanny. From overcoming the challenges of raising neurodiverse children to embracing the benefits of Montessori education, our journeys intersected in ways that felt truly significant. It wasn’t long before we realized we shared a vision for making Montessori more accessible to families like ours.
Over coffees, we came to the realization that although some Montessori materials can be recreated with household items or sourced affordably, many of the core tools that make the method so effective are prohibitively expensive. These materials, designed specifically to support developmental milestones, often come with price tags that make them inaccessible to many families. This struck us as fundamentally unfair—every child deserves access to resources that nurture their natural curiosity and independence. After seeing firsthand how transformative the Montessori method was for our children, we couldn’t shake the feeling that something needed to change. There had to be a way to make these experiences—and the tools that support them—available to more families, regardless of budget.
Drawing on both of our experiences from our pre-stay-at-home dad careers, we set out to create something meaningful: Mindful Montessori. From the beginning, we built our brand on three key pillars: quality, accessibility, and community. Quality meant ensuring every material we offered met the high standards of Montessori philosophy, supporting key developmental milestones. Accessibility drove our commitment to making these resources available to more families, regardless of budget. And community was at the heart of everything—we leaned on the invaluable insights of other Montessori parents, learning from their hits and misses when sourcing materials, and collaborated with expert educators who helped shape our catalog.
Countless conversations shaped our vision, balancing these pillars with practical considerations like delivery speed and transparency. Together, we created a collection that reflects not just our passion for Montessori, but the shared experiences and wisdom of a vibrant community.
We couldn’t be more excited to finally bring this work to the world, this is just the beginning of our journey. In the months ahead, we’ll be adding more free resources to support parents, expanding our collection of materials essential to milestone development, and continuously improving our processes and partnerships to better serve families.
We hope you’ll join us on this journey—not just as customers, but as part of a growing community that believes in the power of Montessori to transform lives. Together, we can make quality education accessible to more children and empower the next generation to thrive.
